MAKE MONEY AT HOMEPeople often ask me if they can make money at home using their computer. They tell me that they've heard of other people doing it and wonder if they can too. Well, I'm here to tell you that you can make money at home! Like everything else, it takes time and effort on your behalf, but you can do it. After I tell them that, the next question is (most often) how? I normally tell them that the simplest way to make money at home with your computer is to sell something you already have, preferrably a digital product, like software or ebooks. Now I know what you're thinking, "I don't have those things to sell so I guess making money with my computer is out of the question!!" Wrong.... Just because you don't have those things now, doesn't mean you can't get them. Let me explain. When I started I didn't know the first thing about selling anything, let alone ebooks. So, what did I do? I joined an affiliate program and used their training and resources and learned. Not only did I learn about the different ways to advertise (free, PPC, ezines, etc) but also I found out a lot about following up with customers using autoresponders, how to write headlines that get noticed, how to collect email addresses so I can continue to contact those interested in my products, plus other important information. I also discovered that I don't need my own products to sell. There are other ways to make money with your computer like selling other people's products and getting a percentage, or commission, on all of the sales! That is basically what affiliate programs are all about. For many online marketers, this is the only way they do it and are making very good incomes at it. Then I found out that I can make money by purchasing products with 'resell rights' and sell those products. Buying resell rights means that you buy the right to sell the product and keep all of the money you make. Basically you pay once and sell as many as you want without paying the original owner any more money. This is a little more difficult than affiliate programs unless you can write sales web pages. What I mean by writing your own web pages is that most affiliate programs give you web sites and all you have to do is advertise to direct your customers to that web site. However, with resell products, you have to provide your own web site (unless you're lucky enough to have some provided for you, see below), and that web site must be good enough to compel the customer to buy. And then, of course, one could always right their own software or ebook and sell that. OK, so now you know you CAN make money at home with your computer, now what? Here are the steps I suggest you take in order to make money at home using your computer: STEP 1. JOIN AN AFFILIATE PROGRAM I believe the first step should be to learn all you can about marketing. Don't be too eager to jump in and start spending your hard earned money on products without first learning how to sell them. I must caution you to do your research. There are many, many affiliate programs available and not all are the same. You will want one that is free to join, offers free training and support, and doesn't make you buy anything to be a member. Here is my suggestion of two excellent programs. They are free to join, have very good training material and both have outstanding products to get you started. I caution you though, take your time and learn. Don't expect the money to start rolling in just by putting up a few ads and sitting back. If that is your attitude, you WILL be disappointed. However, if you learn all you can now, slowly apply what you have learned and track your results...the sky is the limit! So, first join these two free affiliate programs: STEP 2. TAKE TIME TO LEARN This is the hardest part. Why do I say it is the hardest? Simply because most people don't do it. Take as long as you need for this part. I may take months of reading and asking questions but do it! (You may want to add this page to your favorites so you can come back later to follow the next steps.) Use all of the resources you can find. Join discussion groups and draw on the experience of others (the first affiliate program mentioned above has a great discussion board) I wasn't going to mention it here because I didn't want you to have to spend any money before you're ready, but I will anyway, and you can decide whether you should get it or not. One of the products mentioned in the first affiliate program above (Sound Future International ) is the 'International Association Of Home Business Entrepreneurs' (IAHBE). This is an association dedicated to small business owners and is geared mostly toward online marketers. Each month they provide excellent training articles, software, reports, books and magazines (full year's subscriptions) plus much, much more. I am a member, as you can see by the logo at the top of each of my web pages, and I find it a very useful training resource. As a side note, if you decide you might want to join the IAHBE, may I suggest first that you join the free affiliate program (click here). I won't go into why I suggest that now, but if you join the affiliate program you will see the benefits of joining the IAHBE. If for some reason, you don't want to join the affiliate program, you can still join the IAHBE (it costs less than a dollar a day) here: So, and I can't stress this enough, take your time at this stage of the game and learn, learn, learn. STEP 3. PURCHASE PRODUCTS TO RESELL Now that you've taken the time to learn to market products on the internet, and perhaps have even sold some of the products through the affiliate programs, it's time to start thinking about selling some for yourself. This is where products with resell rights come in. I have found this to be the best venue for the make money at home entrepreneur, like you and I, to start earning a good income. Once again, you must take your time and search for products that WILL sell. Many of them have been around for years and have outlived their useful lives. I've even seen people trying to sell products that can be found for free elsewhere! Another thing you should look for is that the resell rights product has web pages already built and included with it. This is extremely important unless you are an expert at writing killer sales copy. Of course you can search your favorite search engine for resell rights products, but, if you will allow me, may I suggest the one that I also purchased. I can't sell it to you directly, but you can purchase it through the link below. But first, let me explain why I think it is the best deal for you. This resell rights package comes with 100 different products you can sell or give away as bonuses to get more sales. Not only that, but 81 of these products already have killer sales web pages written for you! All you need to do is to put in your own payment method and upload them to your web server (more on that below). Another good thing about this one is that you can purchase it now but you don't have to download any of the products until you are ready. I purchased it and have only downloaded a few products that I am selling. The rest are still there and can be downloaded any time I want. Why not download them all at once? Good question. I can only work on a few things at a time (I'm one of those guys who can't walk and chew gum at the same time!). By downloading only the product that interests me most, I can read all about it, use it if I want to, get the sales web page updated with my information and upload it to the web server. Trying to do that with several products at a time will cause nothing but a headache! Oh, and by the way, this package also includes some training and resources to help you sell the products. Remember, this is a one time purchase then you can sell as many copies of each of the products as you want to and keep 100% of the money! ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS Having the knowledge and the products to make money with are the main factors in your home based business, but they're not everything! After all, you have the products and you have the knowledge, but what do you do with them? Obviously if you have digital products you are going to sell them on the internet. That means that you are going to need a place on a web server somewhere on the world wide web. What you will be looking for here is a 'web host'. Basically, a web host is a company that offers space on their servers for people to place their web pages. While there are some free web hosts, their services are not all-inclusive and most likely you will have to put up with their advertising on your site. It is probably in your best interest to find a paid web host, there are thousands of them. The company I use (click here to check them out) offers basic hosting packages (that's all you'll need for now) for a very low monthly cost (as low as $4.99) and includes a FREE DOMAIN NAME. Speaking of domain names, you'll want one of your own. Once again, if you choose to go with a free hosting company, you will get a domain name but it will be part of a longer name including the hosting companies name. Let me give you an example. Suppose you decide to go with a free hosting company like Yahoo. Yahoo offers web space on their servers and your domain name will be something like: www.yourname.geocities.com. Not a very memorable name is it? However if you purchase your own domain name like: www.yourname.com and pick something that really jumps out at you, your name may just become a household word (like Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, or MLM Wonders ;-)). It's your choice, but with a little research, you can find a place to purchase an inexpensive domain name. So now that you have a web host and a domain name, how do you get your web site on the internet? It would be nice to just tell the web hosting company to just get it off of your computer, but it doesn't work that way! What you'll need is a 'File Transfer Protocol' (FTP) program. Basically, an FTP program takes your web site, text and graphics, from your computer and transfers it to the web server. Sounds easy but you will need the software to do it. Once again, you can find ftp programs for free on the internet. They will do the trick for you. There is no need to purchase one at this point. By the way, the hosting company I referred you to above (this one) also gives you free software (including a professional FTP program) when you purchase a hosting package! OK, now that your web site is on the www and you're ready to start selling now what? This is where all of your training comes in! You did do the training didn't you? Good. Start advertising. Advertise everywhere you can that you learned about; (free classified sites, PPC, ezines, other websites, joint ventures, etc). What, you didn't do the training!!!
